    Belief With Some Levity
    (Class of 1965) High, Les
Do you believe in God? Hear is one man's witness with some levity. RELATED COMMENTS - MANNING/CARR - 7/1/24 - Many of us found religion swab year... CARR/MANNING 7/1/24 - At the Academy, I was 'born again' as a 4/c cadet, joined the Officers Christian Union, tried for a semester to convert my roommate (Darvy - Jewish) and have been backsliding ever since. I remember carrying with me for many years a 3 by 5 card with the following Einstein quote you shared from your attachment this morning: "The most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead, a snuffed-out candle. To sense that behind anything that can be experienced there is something that our minds cannot grasp, whose beauty and sublimity reaches us only indirectly: this is religiousness. In this sense, and in this sense only, I am a devoutly religious man."
