Forensic Analysis of Maritime Cyber Incidents

Abstract

This project provides U.S. Coast Guard Cyber Protection Teams with a repeatable forensic analysis framework for commercial shipboard navigation systems. Focusing on the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR), the team explores machine learning techniques for anomaly detection within National Marine Electronics Association networks. The project established specific Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for analysts to follow during maritime cyber incidents. This structured approach equips teams to respond rapidly to bridge system compromises, ensuring the resilience and security of the Marine Transportation System.
