Abstract

Les High relates a milestone moment in his young Coast Guard career, some seventy-five years ago during his first and brief assignment aboard the Taney, when he asked the chief under his command to help him in best practices of a Coast Guard officer. Les looked to experience and lessons learned, for guidance on how to become a better Coast Guard officer. A prime example of "Self-Awareness and Continual Learning" post Academy.
