Abstract

Before the full Core of Cadets in Leamy Auditorium on Friday November 6, 2015, - as part of his Induction into the Hall of Heroes and Wall of Gallantry - Bill describes a combat action while he was Commanding Officer of an 82' Coast Guard cutter gunboat in Vietnam that starkly defined - in a split second - what the core value of 'DUTY" meant and expected from him and his crew. This presentation was also a respectful and honorable recognition - delayed for almost 50 years - for the courage and significant five hour efforts of the entire crew, resulting in the saving of the main ammunition dump at the 3rd Marine Battalion base at the Cua Viet riverhead in I Corps.
