Abstract

Rescue operations in bad weather are dangerous but that is what the Coast Guard does. Listen to the exciting story of LT Drew Ferraro, Captain of the Fast Response Cutter Forest Rednour, as he and his crew rescued a small open-top boat loaded with over 20 migrants. This rescue took place off the coast of Catalina Island, CA, in 8 to 10-foot waves and 30 to 35-knot winds. The rescue was successful. LT Ferraro also reviews several lessons learned from this experience.
